FORMAT


SAMBH offers a learn through play program for youth.  League Staff supervise, score keep and officiate games. SAMBH supplies game/warm-up balls, rostered game sheets and lends out player jerseys for the season and goalie gear at each game. The following game formats were developed by St Albert Minor Ball Hockey when it was established in 2012 .

FAST - learn rules to gain quick face-offs and line changes
FAIR-PLAY - equal floor time regardless of skill
FUN - play with a friend and make new friends

AGE GROUPS

-pre-novice 4-5
-novice 6-7-8
-atom 9-10
-minor 11-12
-intermediate 13-14-15
   
PRE-NOVICE
-5 on 5
-half court
-1 hour time slot
-10 minute warm-up
-2 x 20 minute halves of run time
-4 minute intermission for goalie change
-League Staff - supervise and officiate
-line changes called out by referee
-no scoring/stats for pre-novice
-volunteer parents co-coach teams
-teams do not enter floor until scheduled start time and only when floor/benches empty
-parents are to be available at all times to assist their child
-parent/guardian of registered child allowed on arena floor in designated arena
-NO siblings, food, drinks, strollers allowed on arena floor
-player must have all equipment and assigned jersey to participate
-assigned jersey cannot be shared with another child (suspension in effect)
-no child allowed on floor or team bench unless rostered on the team and wearing equipment
-no scheduling requests will be considered

NOVICE-ATOM-MINOR-INTERMEDIATE
-5 on 5
-full court
-1 hour time slot
-10 minute warm-up
-2 x 20 minute halves of run time
-2 minute intermission
-1 team time out per period (not including overtime)
-hat trick cap, maximum 3 goals per player in a game
-maximum 5 goal spread recorded on clock and stats
-tie breaker regular season 5 minute sudden victory overtime
if no goal scored recorded as a tie
-tie breaker playoffs one 5 minute sudden victory overtime
if no goal is scored,shoot out
-team scores are updated weekly by league
-league staff - supervise, score keep and officiate
-volunteer parents co-coach teams
